It has been the regular and predictable use of the US veto which has always come to Israel's rescue whenever a resolution censuring it came to a vote in the Security Council. Hence, it is no secret that there is not much love lost between the UN, its agencies and a majority of its member states and Israel though, for maintaining a show of diplomatic niceties, Israel may keep its anger under control. Hence, what better way for Israel to demonstrate its utter contempt for the UN and its Agencies than to blast the UN offices in Gaza and set them ablaze at the very moment its Secretary General was at Tel Aviv trying to sell the half-baked UN Security Council resolution demanding immediate ceasefire to Israel's leaders? There can be no doubt that the Israeli assault on the UN offices were deliberately timed and who can blame them for that? Hamas is a resistance movement that combats Israel for its right of existence after Israel occupied their land in 1948 and pushed them to be in what is known today as the Gaza strip, many of these people were kicked out from their land which are now occupied. Out of the 1054 dead, more than 600 are children and women and elderly people. They have a political arm and a military/ resistance arm. They are part of the people and the the people who are dying cannot be segmented as these are their families and children. Also, you should be aware that the Gaza strip has been under siege for the past 6 months with Israel blocking their food, fuel, electricity and any type of supply. Imagine you are living in such conditions... would you fight or not? The problem is that these people dont even have passports... they dont have a state... Their country was taken out of the world map by Israel!!! can you imagine? It is really sad that most of the world is unaware about all this....
